Pollinator Hwy Garden Project

Merritt Rotary is now participating in a District Wide Rotary Project to create a mappable Pollinator Garden Highway throughout the District from B.C. to Southern WA.  Rotary District 5060 District Governor Karl Ruether and the District Environmental Sustainability Committee have made it a priority for 2022-2023.

Pollinator gardens are a community gathering place where volunteers from partner organizations can build relationships while working side by side. The garden can function as an educational site for youth and encourage community service.

We want to make this a community wide project involving, gardeners, naturalists, environmentalists, youth, artists, influencers and educators.

Where

Merritt Rotary has developed other gardens in Merritt over our history.  For this project, in collaboration with The City of Merritt, we will be re- planting the beds in the Rotary Park Rose Garden.  The Rose Garden was originally planted in memory of HRH Princess Diana after her death in 1997. Sadly the roses have not done well in that location over the last few years and only 2 beds of roses have survived.

When

May 6th 1:00 pm - Perennials will be planted at the Rose Garden Rotary Park.

May 27th 1:00 pm - Annuals will be planted at  Rose Garden Rotary Park

Additional request

We are also looking for volunteers to make a bug hotels and signage for plants.

How can you get involved?
